Net pay calculator

Our net pay calculator shows you the net cost of your pension contributions, including:

  • how much Income Tax relief you receive
  • how much National Insurance you can save by paying your pension contributions using Smart.

You can also use it to see the real cost to you of paying Buy Up contributions or saving AVCs.

AVC example:

Tom earns £30,000 a year. He saves £100 per month in AVCs. However, the actual cost to him is only £68. This is because if he had chosen to take the £100 in his pay instead, he would have paid Income Tax and National Insurance contributions on that £100 and would only receive £68 as pay.

By giving up £68, he adds £100 to his pension savings.

For further information on saving more, see the sections on AVCs and Buy Up
